Raksha Reflections is a guided reflective workbook from Smaran Collective created around the deeper meaning of Raksha Bandhan — protection, loyalty, responsibility and the bonds we choose to honour.
Moving beyond the familiar idea of a brother simply promising to protect his sister, the workbook asks what raksha can mean within our relationships as adults. Through stories of Shri Krishna and Draupadi, Yama and Yamuna, Duryodhana and Dushala, Ravana and Shurpanakha, Krishna, Balarama and Subhadra, and Lakshmi and King Bali, we explore chosen family, siblinghood, loyalty without blindness, protection without possession, distance, return, anger, autonomy and the responsibility that comes with loving another person.
With guided reflections throughout, Raksha Reflections invites you to consider the people who form your own raksha circle and ultimately ask:
What does your rakhi promise?
A reflective companion for Raksha Bandhan that can be used alongside the Smaran Reflections podcast series or completely on its own.
